[-ʃ-], Stadt in Südafghanistan, am Unterlauf des Helmand, 23 000 Einwohner; Basar. Lashkargah wurde 1946 gegründet und hat schachbrettartigen Straßengrundriss.
 
 
Am Hochufer des Helmand bei Lashkargah erstreckt sich das Ruinenfeld von Lashkar-e Bazar mit der weitläufigen Palastanlage des ghasnawidischen Sultans Masud I. (1030-41). Die nach Brand (Einfall der Ghoriden, 12. Jahrhundert) erneuerte und 1221 von den Mongolen zerstörte ghasnawidische Winterresidenz bestand aus Lehmziegeln; die am besten erhaltene Audienzhalle am zentralen Hof (Vier-Iwan-System) war mit Wandmalereien und Stuck dekoriert (Kabul, Museum). 14 km flussabwärts am Zusammenfluss von Helmand und Arghandab liegt Kala-e Bist (Kala-e Bost), das Ruinenfeld einer bis in parthische Zeit zurückgehenden Stadt mit dem Palast von Sultan Mahmud (978/998-1030); rekonstruiert wurde ein 26 m hohes Bogentor (ehemaliger Moscheeeingang), vielleicht aus der Zeit der Charism-Schahs (13. Jahrhundert).
